In this tutorial, I get deep inside the beautiful second movement of Beethoven's piano sonata no. 8, a.k.a. "Pathétique" (opus 13). I analyze Beethoven's own harmonic and pianistic choices, then demonstrate some alternatives that are suggested by my experiences in jazz while staying reasonably true to Beethoven's intent.
