She was given the name Matangi because she is the commander of all the Matangas. There are 32 Ganapati, and the eighth Ganapati's name is Ucchista Ganapati. According to shastras, Matangi eats spitted or polluted food. Ucchista Chandalini is her given name. This is incorrect. Ucchista Chandalini is the presiding and highest ranking Matanga deity. All bad deities are part of God's religion. Matangi Sumukhi, who varies from Matangi Mahavidya, is one of them. Raja Shyamala devi who serves as a minister in the Lalitha Devi empire. She emerged out of Agna chakra of Lalita Devi. Matangi is not Shyamala; she is the incarnation of Adi parashakti. It is important to remember that Dasa Mahavidyas are manifestations of Adi Parashakti. She is gnana swaroopini, and people who worship her receive all divine wisdom and powers. Among the navadurgas, she is comparable to Siddhidhatri. People born in Krittika , Uttara and Uttarashadha should worship Matangi.
