Community, through this video I want to wish you happy national holidays... I know that September 18th is a very special day for Chileans, as it commemorates the beginning of their path to independence and the formation of their nation. I know that Chile's independence was officially proclaimed on February 12th, 1818, but the First Government Junta is considered the first step towards independence. I think there are two things that draw our attention as foreigners about your national holidays: first, are the gatherings you have where you eat barbecue, empanadas, and perform cueca... It's really cool to see on social media how united you are and how you enjoy that moment. Secondly, there's your military parade, which, at least in Mexico, is very, very impressive... While we also have a military parade in Mexico, our circumstances are completely different. We have an army for natural disasters, and you have a fully professional army that has won international military events. You won the war against not one, but two countries, I'm talking about Peru and Bolivia. You have a modern army, so much so that in your parades you can see Leopard tanks, F16 fighter jets, and Scorpene submarines... All of that doesn't exist in Mexico, and certainly for a Mexican to see it in a parade would be impressive. You have a deep-rooted military tradition. Community, considering this very special date, I'm going to react to HOW PROUD TO BE CHILEAN! 1.- The first video is of a police officer helping a person through sign language. Well, this is very shocking because here in Mexico, we have a perception that the police are corrupt, discredited, and in fact, a sector where there is a lot of ignorance... Here in Mexico, many police officers don't know the procedures, and seeing that in Chile, perhaps not all of them do, but at least the policewoman in the video communicates in sign language, demonstrates her education and professionalism. 2.- The second video is with Ewan McGregor, known for playing Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars saga. He made news years ago when he revealed his ties to Chile, as one of his great-grandfathers is Chilean. In a September 2019 documentary, he is seen celebrating that year's Fiestas Patrias in Puerto Montt. 3. The third video is incredible. It compares some regions of Chile with regions of the world. A friend once told me that when God created the world, he formed Chile with the leftover scraps... That's why Chile has deserts, the Mediterranean, forests, ice... The video compares, for example, Osorno with Mount Fuji in Japan or Torres del Paine with the Dolomites in Italy. 4. This video truly conveys so many emotions to me...
