They Had 23 Grouper on Their Boat and Every Single One Was Illegal

A Fish and Wildlife officer spotted three men returning from an offshore fishing trip. After boarding their vessel, the officer discovered a bucket full of red grouper — a species currently closed by executive order due to overfishing. Of the 23 red grouper on board, 21 were undersized and none were legal to possess. The daily limit, if the season had been open, would have been just six fish for the group. The boat operator was issued two citations for possession of out of season red grouper and possession of undersized red grouper. He was required to appear in Pinellas County Court. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This channel features real-world interactions involving Fish & Wildlife officers and outdoor encounters in natural environments such as forests, waterways, and coastal areas.
