新幹線・新大阪駅２７番線ホーム始動 New Track No. 27 of Shin-Osaka Station

Previously, platforms 20-26 at JR Shin-Osaka Station were Shinkansen platforms. Platform 27 was newly installed and began operation on March 16, 2013. This new platform, a first for Shin-Osaka Station, also features automatic platform doors (new movable barriers). The platform doors open immediately after the train stops, accompanied by music, followed by the car doors. These doors were installed to prevent people from coming into contact with the car body or falling onto the tracks during train arrivals and departures, and are said to improve safety. The platform doors (new movable barriers) have no frames or rails underneath them, and instead appear to feature protruding boards on both sides. Even when the train stops, the platform doors open before the car doors open, resulting in a delay of about 10 seconds for passengers getting off the train.
