Sony A7R VI: Is It Really Worth Upgrading From the A7R V?

After spending time looking at the new Sony A7R VI, I just don't see enough here to justify upgrading if you already own the A7R V. Yes, Sony has made improvements, but they're mostly incremental rather than transformative. For portrait photographers especially, the A7R V is already an incredibly capable camera with a 61MP sensor that delivers outstanding image quality, autofocus, and dynamic range. The reality is that your clients won't notice the difference, and neither will most photographers in real-world use. If you're already invested in the A7R V, it may make more financial sense to save your money and wait for what could be a much more significant update with the A7R VII in the next three to four years. Don't let gear acquisition syndrome or internet hype convince you that you need to spend thousands of dollars for marginal improvements. Instead, invest in better lenses, lighting, education, travel, or experiences that will actually improve your photography. The A7R VI is a great camera, but for many A7R V owners, it's simply not a necessary upgrade. The Sony A7R VI isn't a bad camera—it's just not enough of an upgrade from the A7R V to make me reach for my wallet.
