Half an hour dedicated to the transition from 2D to 3D, using three different game genres as examples. A little context: by the mid-90s, 3D graphics were considered the future, as they contrasted so much with what the 8- and 16-bit computers, consoles like the MegaDrive, and arcade machines of the time could deliver. Therefore, the next-gen had to be 3D—or at least, that was the thinking at the time. So, people tried to create new projects in three dimensions, and add an extra axis to older, successful ones. We tried to talk about that time, the games, the personalities, and the famous and not-so-famous attempts at transformation.
