Proper air balancing ensures that the design, if correctly calculated, meets the user requirements (RU); however, there are industries where air conditioning serves a purpose beyond comfort. Industries such as biosafety, operating rooms, pharmaceuticals, food processing, and others require that pathogens not travel from one area to another within the conditioned spaces, and therefore two concepts are important: room pressurization and differential airflow.
