Dental Bonding of Ceramic Inlays
The gluing of ceramic and/ or plastic filling is known as Dental bonding. The procedure of tooth bonding is a lot more elaborate than that of cementing and involves a number of preparatory steps. First the glue teeth are cleansed and then etched. Etching involves the application of an etching liquid on the teeth, which roughens the surface area to be glued, thus increasing the same, for better bonding ceramics. The second step in tooth bonding, before introducing the gluing ceramics, is to dry out the moisture in the protein strands, existing in the damaged ends of the dentine, by using a primer. This ensures that the glue evenly spreads and results in perfect bonding ceramics. The third step is re-vitalizing the dried collapsed protein strands in the damaged dentine. This again, is done to evenly spread the bonding glue and ensure perfect fastening ceramics. The pre-glue is applied in the fourth step and finally the actual glue is applied. Because of all the preparation the actual glue spreads evenly on the surface of both the enamel and dentine and results in making the ceramic crown, a non-distinguishable component of tooth material.
