Murray River Houseboat Weekend July 2022 #murrayriver #houseboat #riverland

With around 1000km of navigable waterway, the River Murray is one of the most popular houseboat venues in the world and South Australia, in particular, is renowned for its houseboats; the first of which appeared in the 1960's. When my sister-in-law and her husband recently purchased one and needed it to be 'slipped' for maintenance and survey, the opportunity was kindly offered to my wife and I to have a few days aboard while the houseboat was returned to its mooring. If there is anything more relaxing than cruising on the river in a boat with all mod-cons, nature all around you and the water quietly gurgling down the sides of the pontoons then I haven't experienced it yet.
