I Built a Full App in Lovable Without Touching Code

This is Week 1 of TAI's AI Builders Bootcamp — a 53-minute hands-on session where we built a fully functional web app from a single prompt. Authentication, database, real users, a deployable URL — none of it touched by a human writing a single line of code. Our instructor Dr Akshika (Aki) Wijesundara walked through the entire build live: how to brief Lovable so it generates the right app, how to wire in the authentication layer, how to connect a real database, and how to deploy the result somewhere people can actually use. By the end of the session, the class had a working app that wasn't a prototype, wasn't a clone of a tutorial — it was theirs. 🎓 JOIN THE NEXT COHORT → https://theaiinternship.com/ • AI Builders Bootcamp — 4 weeks, live, mentor-led • Build a real shippable app, not a course clone • Cohort access to Lovable, Cursor, Claude Code, n8n • Career + portfolio support after the cohort ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ In this build you'll see: ✓ The AI Builders Bootcamp roadmap — what we build over 4 weeks ✓ Lovable from scratch — first prompt to first working screen ✓ Briefing the AI properly so the output isn't generic ✓ Adding authentication that actually works ✓ Connecting a real database (Supabase) ✓ Iterating with follow-up prompts instead of rebuilds ✓ Deploying live so anyone can use it ✓ The week 1 assignment — picking a real portfolio project 🕐 CHAPTERS 0:00 Intro — what we're building today 1:09 The 4-week AI Builders Bootcamp roadmap 4:17 Today's agenda — capabilities → tools → build 5:36 How to think about AI products 8:59 Different types of AI capabilities 11:37 The AI tools landscape (4 layers) 12:13 Data layer — Supabase, Firebase, Clerk 12:46 AI-assisted coding — Cursor 13:35 Automation tools — n8n, Make, Zapier, Retool 14:22 Using AI to add real product value 15:13 Grammarly as a concrete AI-tool example 17:03 Common failure patterns in AI apps 18:30 From chatbots to workflows 20:41 Q&A — prompt engineering vs context engineering 22:15 Q&A — why LLMs hallucinate 23:50 The 20-minute Lovable challenge 25:06 Today's build plan + first prompts 27:11 Lovable interface tour 28:05 Themes + design system options 29:52 Built-in integrations (Stripe, Firecrawl, GitHub) 31:51 Live build starts — Lovable generating 33:09 Permissions + database creation 33:38 Supabase tables + row-level security 35:35 Enabling AI features + API key management 41:03 The app is live 42:16 Reviewing the database + transactions 43:29 The Week 1 assignment 44:11 Q&A — picking a project to iterate on 46:37 Q&A — exporting code via GitHub 48:17 When to switch from Lovable to Cursor 48:43 Real businesses built on Lovable at scale 52:30 Wrap 🛠️ TOOLS MENTIONED • Lovable — https://lovable.dev • Supabase — https://supabase.com • Cursor — https://cursor.com • Claude Code — https://claude.com/claude-code • n8n — https://n8n.io • Vercel — https://vercel.com ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 📚 MORE FROM TAI W04 — Vector Embeddings & Semantic Search W05 — Fine-Tuning ChatGPT (Turn It Into Your Company Intern) W06 — Prompt Engineering, the Full Walkthrough W07 — RAG: How to Stop Your AI from Making Things Up W08 — Build an AI Agent the Proper Way (No Gatekeeping) W09 — MCP: Learn It Now or Get Left Behind → Apply: https://theaiinternship.com/ About TAI — The AI Internship We train engineers and product managers to ship real AI products.
