Grandsire Cinques at Amersham, Bucks
The final quarter peal of Euan's day took us over the border, into Buckinghamshire, and another terminus of the Metropolitan line. Augmented with the help of two local ringers, it was time to up the ante and finish the day with a 12 bell quarter peal. A relatively young and inexperienced band stepped their game up, and made a very respectable job, with three "firsts on twelve" secured as part of the mix. The camerawork is courtesy of Smashley, who very patiently sat through the whole thing The bells are a very good example of a light, modern twelve. The back eight were cast in 1983 by Taylor's, replacing an old ring. The augmentation came in 1992, and a sharp second was added in 1996; again from the Loughborough foundry. They handle very nicely (even the light trebles are well behaved), sound pleasant, are crystal clear inside, and rung from a very smart ringing chamber - basically, there really isn't much to dislike!
