On Thursday morning, as a result of the storm system affecting several regions of the country, Senapred (National Service for Disaster Prevention, Mitigation and Response) issued an evacuation order for two areas in the municipality of Penco, Biobío Region, due to high waves along the coast. The first evacuation occurred in Cerro Verde Bajo, where the sea had already reached homes, prompting the activation of the Emergency Alert System (SAE) for cell phones to assist with the evacuation. The same system was activated again later, at 1:06 PM, requesting the evacuation of the coastal areas of Malaquías Concha and Barrio Chino in the municipality of Penco, Biobío Region, Senapred stated.
