Nii Tete Boye Born and raised in a Ghanaian griot family that crafts panlogo drums, Nii Tete began interacting with Japanese people in 2001 through the TBS television program *Ururun Taizaiki*. He arrived in Japan in 2004, where he met numerous musicians—including Hayasaka, Nagata, Tsunoken, Toyama, Kazutoki Umezu, and Yosuke Yamashita. For the past 21 years, he has been active primarily in Japan. His powerful yet beautiful drumming enriches the music and captivates audiences across genres ranging from jazz and pop to rock. He has even performed alongside Ryuichi Sakamoto on an NHK program exploring African rhythms. Driven by the desire to share Ghanaian music and his unique drumming style with a wider audience, he currently performs at festivals and schools throughout Japan, actively promoting traditional Ghanaian music.
