Making a Reactive Silver Glass Raised Dot Bead - lampworking demonstration
Watch me melt glass and play with fire! In this video I create an encased bead using reactive silver glass. I add texture and dimension with raised glass dots on the surface of the bead. There is no narration, as this is meant to be more of a demonstration than instructional. Thanks for watching! :) ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ FOLLOW CCGLASSART ONLINE... It is the art of creating small glass beads by melting rods of colored glass in a flame, then winding that melted glass around a steel rod (mandrel), which creates the bead hole. After the artist is finished making the bead on the mandrel, and the glass hardens back to a solid state, It is placed into a pre-heated kiln to soak for a length of time which strengthens (anneals) the glass. After the annealing process in the kiln, and the glass is cool, it is removed from the steel mandrel and a bead has been created! After some cleaning, the bead is now ready to be used in any jewelry design. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Disclaimer: please do not attempt these techniques unless you are well skilled in working with molten glass in an open flame - if you do try these techniques you assume all responsibility for the outcome of your efforts and agree that you are aware of and will comply with any and all safety precautions associated with making glass beads including but not limited to proper ventilation of your work environment, wearing safety glasses and appropriate clothing, use of an open flame, working with hot glass, being careful around sharp glass, etc., etc… CCGlassArt cannot be held responsible for any negative results you may incur attempting these techniques.
