There are many things we cannot choose in our lives, but we can choose who we walk with. We all need special, close people with whom we can share our lives. PROVERBS 17:17 The Bible tells the story of two men who received a miracle of healing. One was lame, having been sick for 38 years, waiting, completely alone, stuck. See JOHN 5:1-9. The other was paralyzed; his friends brought him to Jesus. See LUKE 5:17-26. Both received healing and forgiveness of sins. What was the difference between them? The first was alone and waited 38 years. The second experienced the immense value of having friends who made an effort, had faith, and helped him in his paralysis. After healing them, Jesus said to both, “Get up, take your mat and walk.” This message is a call to take steps to develop true friendships with whom we can share our lives.
