The castle keep is designated as a National Treasure. Ii Naosuke, the high-ranking official assassinated in the Sakuradamon Incident at the end of the Edo period, spent his time in this castle town before becoming the lord of the domain, and his residence at the time still exists today as "Umoregi-no-ya".
