Who is Cowboy? “Cowboy” is a commander of a platoon of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the 1st Mechanized Battalion, a native of Luhansk, who after working in a tech store found his calling in war, flying drones on the front lines. In an interview, he shares his journey from civilian to experienced commander, talks about modern drone warfare – from FPV kamikazes to heavy “Vampires”, about the situation in the Pokrovsky direction and even about how drones help take Russians prisoner. He also calls on everyone who is ready to master the latest military technologies to join his unit. “I would really like to liberate Luhansk,” he says of his hometown, which the Russians have changed beyond recognition. But the drones of the 155th OMB see everything. “At night, they come in wearing raincoats, they try, but they don’t really succeed.” Gifts for the occupiers In the platoon’s arsenal — FPV drones, “Vampires,” and powerful ammunition. “We have a lot of gifts for the Russians. I don’t know what kind of shelter I should be in so as not to experience this surprise.” He tells how the Russians hide in basements — and how Ukrainian drones “carry them out” even from the depths.
