He is following behind Robert E. Lee, who is believed to be in Pennsylvania. Meade's communication with Washington has been cut, so he is reliant on couriers to Washington and Harrisburg. This video follows Meade's thoughts, as presented in his own words, during the Gettysburg campaign. It follows his movements from Frederick, Maryland to Taneytown, Maryland and finally to Gettysburg. All three days of the battle (July 1 to July 3) are revealed in his communications. This video shows the Peach Orchard, Devil's Den, Little Round Top, Cemetery Ridge, Cemetery Hill, and Culp's Hill. Also included are the cavalry movements of Buford, Kilpatrick, and Stuart. This presentation is a reading of primary documents by George Meade from the Battle of Gettysburg. The Battle of Gettysburg occurred during the American Civil War. A short film by Jeffrey Meyer
