KALA PANI: The Dark History | KrishKiMathri | Andaman Episode-1 Located in Port Blair, the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Cellular Jail, known as 'Kala Pani', was a major center for the torture of Indian freedom fighters during British colonial rule. Construction began in 1896 and was completed in 1906, with 698 solitary confinement cells. Many revolutionaries, including Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, were subjected to inhumane torture here, and it is now a national monument. After visiting the Andamans, I realized how beautiful a place it truly is. It was perhaps impossible to imagine such a beautiful place before coming here, with such beautiful seas and beaches. The views are such that even after leaving, the memory of it will not fade from my mind.
