VA helps Army Veteran find purpose and strength

Army Veteran Anthony Martinez says powerlifting helped him find renewed purpose and strength. Through his care at the Fresno VA and participation in the National Veterans Wheelchair Games, he built confidence, motivation, and a supportive community that continues to push him forward. The road to the 2026 National Veterans Wheelchair Games starts now! Veterans and volunteers can register for the #WheelchairGames taking place July 9–14, 2026, in Detroit, Michigan. Co-presented by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Paralyzed Veterans of America, the event helps Veterans with disabilities rebuild confidence, discover new strengths, and find community.
