Her neighbors and her family heard that the Lord had magnified His mercy on her, and they rejoiced with her. It happened that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child and wanted to call him by his father's name - Zechariah. In response, his mother said: "No, but he will be called John!" And they told her that there was no one in her family who would be called by that name. So they asked his father by signs what he wanted him to be called. Asking for a tablet, he wrote, reporting: "His name is John!" And everyone was amazed. And immediately his mouth and his tongue were opened, and he began to speak, blessing God. And fear came upon all their neighbors; and all these things were talked about throughout all the hill country of Judea. All who heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, “What then will this child be?” For the hand of the Lord was with him!
