From Frugal Care to Precision Medicine: The HbSC Sickle Cell Disease Model

Thank you to our speaker Dr. Stéphanie Forté and our sponsor SunPharma Dr. Stéphanie Forté is a hematologist based in Quebec and serves as a clinician at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM), where she is involved in the care of adults with hemoglobin disorders. She holds an academic appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Université de Montréal. She is actively engaged in national initiatives in education, program development, and knowledge translation, and contributes to collaborative efforts through the Canadian Hemoglobinopathy Association (CanHaem) to promote standardized, high-quality care across Canada. Objective: This session will explore contemporary approaches to the treatment of sickle cell disease, including the roles of phlebotomy, hydroxyurea, and red blood cell–based therapies. The discussion will highlight evolving strategies in clinical practice and considerations for optimizing patient outcomes.
