Cross Slot No-Till Seeding Technology

Baker No-Tillage Limited (BNT) is a developer and manufacturer of advanced agricultural machinery specifically used for no-tillage (planting seeds in soil without creating above-ground disturbance). All the equipment features the patented Cross Slot®1 no-tillage opener. The resulting technology is state-of-the-art and removes most of the technical and biological obstacles to farmers adopting no-tillage in preference to conventional tillage. The Cross Slot no-tillage system lowers production costs for farmers, increases yields and improves environmental outcomes through lower fuel costs and emissions and makes more efficient use of scarce water resources. The Cross Slot no-tillage system reduces environmental damage from fertilizer run-off due to its unique ability to band fertilizer in the ground next to the seed where it optimizes emergence and yields. The Cross Slot no-tillage system also reduces CO2 emissions into the atmosphere and improves the ability of micro organisms to absorb carbon into the soil, thereby improving soil quality and crop yields. The Cross Slot system also reduces soil erosion arising from wind and water run-off. The technology has been field proven over more than 25 years in New Zealand and the USA (at Washington State University).
