Build a Leaning Tower of Pisa! | Adventure Artist Kids

Let’s get ready to build one of the most famous mistakes in history! 🇮🇹🏛️ In this Adventure Artist Kids construction challenge, we’re heading to Italy to build our very own Leaning Tower of Pisa using simple recycled materials. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is famous because it started to tilt while it was being built over 800 years ago! We’ll show you the engineering secret to making your model lean perfectly without falling over. It’s the ultimate mix of art, history, and a little bit of gravity-defying fun. Ground Crew Supplies: -A cardboard tube (like a toilet paper or paper towel roll) -A piece of green construction paper for the "lawn" -Scissors and glue -Markers (black for the details and white/gray for the marble) 🏗️ Stable Foundation Tip: Since the tower is leaning, its weight is all on one side! To keep it from tipping over, use a "Counterweight" trick. Tape a heavy coin (like a nickel or quarter) or a small piece of clay to the inside of the tube on the side that is tilting up. This acts like an anchor to keep your tower standing tall (well, leaning tall!) on your desk. ✍️ Architectural Column Shortcut: Drawing hundreds of tiny arches can be tricky! Instead of drawing them one by one, try the "Wave & Pillar" method: Draw a long, wavy line (like little humps) all the way around your tube. Draw a quick vertical "pillar" line coming down from where each hump meets. This creates a perfect row of arches in seconds! Repeat this for each level of the tower to get that classic Pisa look. Tower Trivia: Did you know it took nearly 200 years to finish the tower? Because of wars and the soft, mushy ground, builders had to stop and start many times. That actually saved the tower because it gave the ground time to settle so the tower didn't topple over completely!
