Johnstown, Pennsylvania | What Happened To This Place?
Johnstown is a Rust Belt City in Cambria County, Pennsylvania. It's one of the fastest shrinking cities in the USA, and there's a lot of reasons why. Economic downturn from the loss of steel and coal production has forced many to leave the area, leaving many abandoned homes and businesses. There's also an issue with flooding, in 1889 it had one of the worst floods ever, causing a wall of water and debris over 35 feet high. There have been many more floods since. Crime is an issue, along with a 33% poverty level adding to the despair. Although revitalization attempts are being made, it has a long way to go.
