The Forgotten Ford Mansion in Grosse Pointe, MI | Clairview
Detroit’s Grosse Pointe Shores was once lined with jaw-dropping estates on Lake St. Clair, and Clairview was among the most spectacular. Built 1911-1915 for renowned surgeon Dr. Henry N. Torrey and Nell Ford (granddaughter of J.B. Ford of Pittsburgh Plate Glass / PPG), this mansion was a Beaux‑Arts / Italian Renaissance showplace that hosted high society… until it was abandoned, vandalized, burned, and ultimately demolished.
