IHHP Pormpuraaw - Close the Gap (Youth Conversations)

Rise Ventures and Pormpuraaw Paanthu Aborignal Corporation hosted IHHP film maker Britten Syd Andrews for a week of media training and development workshops. Over the space of the week the youth of Pormpuraaw learned about camera techniques, sound recording, story boarding and digital storytelling. The participants developed skills in these fields and focused on stories that were relevant to living in Pormpuraaw. After a few simple camera exercises early in the week, the youth decided to focus on themselves and share a message to Australia for Close the Gap day. What we developed is empowerment, engagement, leadership and ownership over a project which brings to the world the voice of the youth from Pormpuraaw.
