The gargoyle didn't understand what was happening when it came to life... only that the big man and the little man had been hurt. Then the gargoyle sprang into action, causing the attackers to flee in terror. The little man thanked the gargoyle and asked her name. The gargoyle didn't have one. So the little man said, "I'll call you Ivy." The gargoyle, at the time covered in ivy, thought this was a bit obvious, but decided to agree for the little man's sake. The people asked if Ivy would like to go home with them so they could express their gratitude, and Ivy willingly followed. She learned a lot that evening. The family was called the Arroyos. The youngest girl was named Sofia. Mofongo was what they called a gourmet dish. But most importantly, she learned that the men who attacked them called themselves the "Mendoza Syndicate," and they hurt people...good people like the Arroyos. It's been 18 years since the Arroyos took Ivy home... and in that time, she's set herself the goal of destroying the Mendoza Syndicate and freeing Spanish Harlem from its grip. However, when you dedicate your life to one goal for nearly two decades, you don't know what to do after you achieve it. For the first time in her life, Ivy is ready to step outside Spanish Harlem and see what the world has to offer beyond vigilante justice.
