“I am absolutely determined that there will be support for victims, and I want that as soon as possible. But what we saw over many years under the previous Conservative government is emergency releases that weren't planned and where people weren't told properly.” Victims have been receiving letters notifying them ahead of perpetrators’ early release as part of a scheme to free up prison space, but the government are still working on implementing promised support, says victims minister Catherine Atkinson MP.
