CNN International Cut Me Off — What Happens Next at the Reflecting Pool

For the second day in a row I was interviewed on CNN, with the second interview being with CNN international which has an even larger audience than CNN domestic. Both appearances were to discuss the unfolding green water situation with the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. In this video I am talking about what you can expect to happen next with the reflecting pool including the information that was cut off from CNN International ending the segment early to cut away to some breaking news. When you start up a clear water natural lake system like the reflecting pool it is not uncommon to experience what is known as "new pond syndrome" where there is a fresh slate aquatic environment and this leads to certain fast-developing algae strains to out compete other organisms and plant matter growth in the water. Over time competing algae strains will develop which are self limiting, as well as beneficial bacteria and bio films to help regulate the release of phosphorus into the water which would act as a nutrient source for algae and plant matter growth. Soon, with the help of oxidation (both the nanobubblers as well as the hydrogen peroxide) being added to the water, and the development of microbial equilibrium we could expect to see the water begin to clear up soon. What remains to be seen is how much the upcoming repairs and renovations to the plumbing and filtration systems are hampering the ability for the system to function right now.
