A couple believed they were buying a house after seeing an advertisement on social media. At the indicated location, they paid R$ 10,000 as a down payment and were informed that a real estate agent would visit their home to present property options in their desired area. Days later, nothing happened. Upon returning to the company, they discovered that they had actually been placed in a real estate consortium contract without ever having been informed. They were also told that they had not been selected in a draw or by bidding and that they should wait another 30 days. The couple gave them a second chance. Again, the deadline passed and no house was presented. When they asked for their money back, the company refused to return the R$ 10,000 and stopped responding to customers. In light of this, TV Alerta went to the location with a news team. Without any agreement and given the suspicion of fraud, the Military Police were called. After contacting their superiors, the police officers determined that the case should be taken to the police station.
