San UEO: Historia y tradición en la Escuela Militar de Medicina de México.

In this video, we describe the history and significance of Saint UEO, an emblematic figure of the Military Medical School in Mexico, now the Military School of Medicine. Saint UEO is the most powerful unofficial symbol of the School and fosters institutional identity and cohesion. Saint UEO originated in 1937 as a humorous drawing by then-cadet Manuel Rivera Toro, inspired by Eugene the Jeep from the Popeye comics. It evolved into a bronze effigy venerated by the students, created by General and Doctor José Guadalupe Martín del Campo Barba. It is not simply a mascot, but an entity with its own personality that emotionally connects dozens of generations of Mexican military doctors.
