It's something that accumulates over time and becomes increasingly severe. Experts say our modern lifestyle has a significant impact, and hearing problems are rapidly affecting younger people. This means that more and more young people are beginning to experience these problems. What's damaging our hearing? What's threatening it? And what changes in our lives should we make to preserve our ears? In this video, I've compiled the main recommendations. There are several types of headphones. Which ones are the most harmful? These are the ones that fit directly into the ear. Roughly speaking, like earplugs, they're in-ear headphones. They come with almost every modern smartphone. These headphones have one problem: they can't completely isolate environmental noise due to their small membrane. Therefore, to hear sound clearly, we have to turn up the volume, which can reach 110 decibels. This, incidentally, is equivalent to the noise of a jet engine. A noise level that is harmless to our hearing is one that does not exceed 80 decibels. But absolute volume isn't the only problem. Because these headphones are inserted directly into the ear, they are only about 1-1.5 cm from the eardrum. Therefore, the sound wave will directly impact our hearing cells, causing degenerative changes and, ultimately, the death of hearing cells. As a result, a person may go deaf. Monitor headphones, that is, large headphones that we place over the entire ear, are safer for hearing because the sound source is further from the eardrum, and they also block out environmental noise much better.
