Deserted | Bouldering On The Edge Of The Sahara (Family Climbing Film)
In this climbing film, our first from Morocco, we explore how the desert acts as a teacher, forcing us and our kids to dig deep in our well of self-belief and commitment to bouldering out here when the nearest hospital is hours away. Tafraout has proven to be an unexpectedly awesome, off the beaten path winter bouldering destination with multiple established circuits as well as soooooo much potential for development of new boulder problems - which we all got stuck into, kids too! We actually came here - to Tafraout in the south of Morocco - to climb routes but we were seduced by the sheer number of boulders, so decided to spend a week bouldering before putting our harnesses on. We’ve always believed that bouldering in remote landscapes isn’t just about the grades or the sends. It's about adventure and exploration, it's a discipline where character is forged. In this first chapter from Tafraout, the granite is sharp AF, the sun is unforgiving, and the consequences of bouldering on the edge of the Sahara feel very real. We aren't here for the ego; we're here for the resilience that only comes from being truly out there as a family. "Belief in yourself isn't something that can be taught; it has to be learned through the space to fail and the courage to try again." This is the first of our Morocco climbing film series - see you next month for the second film as we explore more of the incredible climbing and culture Morocco has to offer. Our films document the raw reality of climbing as a family in off and on the beaten path areas - from Manikia, Greece's newest climbing mecca and the hidden gems of Romania to granite highballs on the edge of the Sahara. In our films, we share stories at the intersection of climbing, adventure and parenting and whether we're exploring the Dolomites or establishing new problems in Skye, our climbing films are about more than grades or hard sends. They're about exploring the world and living life through climbing, the character built through risk and the resilience of family life on the move one real rock film at a time ;) Thanks for watching.
