RITTER SECTION METHOD (Trafters) This video uses an example to demonstrate how to calculate member forces using the Ritter section method. Then, you cut through three members in the truss. This yields two free-body diagrams. It's best to continue with the "easier" free section. There, you set up the three equilibrium conditions and then rearrange each one according to the desired member force.
