Compressible Flow Lesson 07A: Critical Area Ratio Across a Normal Shock
Compressible Flow Lesson Series - Lesson 07A: Critical Area Ratio Across a Normal Shock In this 9-minute video, Professor John Cimbala derives an equation for the critical area ratio across a stationary normal shock in an ideal gas. He then explains how to apply this equation to analyze flow through a shock in a converging-diverging nozzle. A complete list of the videos, the annotated notes for each video, and the Equation Sheet can be found in this Excel file: https://www.me.psu.edu/cimbala/Cengel... The YouTube playlist containing all the lessons in this Compressible Flow Lesson Series is found here: • Compressible Flow Lesson Series These video lessons are intended for use by undergraduate or graduate students taking their first course in compressible flow. It is assumed that students have already taken an undergraduate fluid mechanics course (for which Professor Cimbala also has a popular video lesson series on his YouTube channel). The video lessons and notes closely follow the notes that Professor Cimbala uses when he teaches the course. Except for a few potential notation issues, however, these video lessons may be useful as a free resource at other schools and for anyone wishing to learn about fluid mechanics, and specifically, compressible flow.
