Dipo Rites - The passage rite of the Krobo lady

Dipo is the most popular puberty rite in Ghana, Dipo of the Krobo woman. Dipo is the right of passage where the young beautiful Krobo girl is ushered into adulthood significantly. The rite spans over 3 weeks where these little ones are camped and trained on how to keep a home and how to handle themselves as female adults. They are thought how to cook, clean after themselves and also, do what women do. Over the years, this beautiful cultural practice received heavy criticism because, the young ladies exposes more than they think they should. In recent times, Dipo is being redefined. They cover up so well. The most interesting highlight was seeing mothers of these beautiful ones jubilating the success of their daughters going through this important phase of life.
