Update on the Management of Atrial Fibrillation:Focus on the New Guidelines
Atrial fibrillation remains one of the most common and complex cardiac arrhythmias, with rapidly evolving evidence informing best practices for diagnosis and management. In this Grand Rounds, Gregory Marcus will review key updates from the latest AFib management guidelines and discuss practical approaches to evaluating patients with a new diagnosis. He will also highlight the growing role of lifestyle and modifiable risk factors in AFib prevention and treatment, as well as how these considerations can be integrated into clinical care. Speaker: Gregory Marcus, MD, MAS, is a professor of medicine and the associate chief of cardiology for research at UCSF Health and the inaugural endowed professor of atrial fibrillation research. He is an associate editor at JAMA and chair of the American Heart Association's Committee on Drugs, Alcohol, and Tobacco. He is also a founder and principal investigator of the Health eHeart Study, a principal investigator of the NIH-funded Eureka mobile health infrastructure, and a member of the writing committee for the recent Management of Atrial Fibrillation guidelines developed by a joint committee of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, American College of Chest Physicians, and the Heart Rhythm Society.
