EROINA E COCAINA PER TUTTO IL VENETO: SEQUESTRATI 42 KG DI DROGA | 19/06/2023

A3 NEWS Veneto 19/06/2023 - PADUA - Drug trafficking in Northern Italy has been dealt a severe blow by an operation by the Padua Flying Squad, which led to the arrest of six foreigners and the seizure of over 40 kg of cocaine and heroin. The arrest in broad daylight near the tram stop. Police cars block the shipment of drugs being delivered. One of many was brought to Padua and then sold throughout Northern Italy. The Flying Squad busted a gang of traffickers and removed over 40 kg of cocaine and high-purity heroin from the market. The value of the seized drugs is over one million euros, but if sold, they would have fetched three times that. Three Nigerians and a Spaniard were arrested, while a Nigerian and a Spanish woman were banned from living in Veneto. The images also show one of the latest seizures, which took place in February at the Padua train station, when a 40-year-old Nigerian woman was stopped after she had withdrawn 182 packets of cocaine hidden in milk bottles. The investigation stemmed from constant surveillance on the streets and in public squares, explained the Padua Police Chief. It all began with the arrest of a Nigerian drug dealer in September 2021. Police traced his cell phone to details of a transfer to a 35-year-old Nigerian resident in Padua, who was later discovered to have played a key role in the cocaine and heroin trafficking ring. Between October 2022 and February 2023, police seized 42 kg of the drug, identifying a hideout where the drugs were stored: an apartment on Via Curiel in the Stanga area, and another apartment used by drug dealers in Cadoneghe. Police seized a ledger and discovered the involvement of another Nigerian man who was using an apartment in Legnaro, where a Nigerian courier living in Casale sul Sile would go to get supplies. The Mobile Squad reconstructed the network, also arresting a 31-year-old Nigerian man from Treviso and identifying a pair of Spanish couriers from Zaragoza who were transporting drugs to Veneto. In February, they were stopped in the province of Lodi with 15 kg of the drug in their car. - Interviewed by ANTONIO SBORDONE (Padua Police Chief) (Report by Valentina Visentin) - Follow Antenna Tre on digital terrestrial TV too!
