Today, 196 graduates of the Border Guard Platoon Commanders' Course marched on the parade ground at the Shlomo Group Hall in Tel Aviv. The ceremony was held in the presence of the Deputy Commander of the Border Guard, Lieutenant General Amram Nidam, the Commander of the Military School, Lieutenant General Barak Mordechai, the senior command staff of the force, graduates of the course, their friends and family members. The Platoon Commanders' Course, which lasts approximately four months, is held at the Border Guard Military School. During the course, the trainees undergo a variety of content, including command and control, navigation, combat and initiation training, fitness training, leadership, and a host of other enriching content that will serve them as squad commanders. The graduates who were certified today will join the Border Guard's operational field units in all sectors, fighting and leading the force's operational activities in the fight against terrorism and serious crime. Deputy Commander of the Border Guard, Lieutenant Colonel Amram Nidam, said in his speech at the ceremony: "This is a defining moment in your lives. You will no longer leave here the same way you came. For the first time, you will bear and feel on your shoulders the burden of responsibility demanded of someone who chose to take on the task of command and be the one to whom many good people will look from now on. A lot has changed in Israeli society since the October 7th, we have proven that we are a people of great strength and we are here, in the spirit of the hour, to stand guard anywhere and at any time. This is our home and this is the duty of this generation - to ensure the security of the State of Israel and its citizens. Your responsibility from now on is for all that it implies in the face of the missions, the commanders and commanders who await you and the dozens of warriors and warriors who expect commanders and commanders who will truly love them, who will educate them, who will teach and strengthen them, who will be an anchor, who will be there for them in difficult moments and who will take care of all their needs. And most of all, they will make them feel proud to belong." The commander of the Soldiers' School, Lieutenant Colonel Barak Mordechai, said: "Each and every one of the graduates standing here today has a source of motivation in their name, in whose name they passed the course and chose to become commanders in the Border Guard. One of them is graduate Alaa Su'ad, who lost his cousin Asil in the attack at the Shu'afat checkpoint in February 2023. He chose to take the course to continue the path of Asil, who aspired to become a commander in the Border Guard himself, and today he stands proud and excited on the graduation platform. Also here are graduates Leon and Maria, both of whom immigrated to Israel to enlist, contribute, and be part of the forces that defend the State of Israel. Leon arrived at the company commanders' course after reserve service in the Gaza Strip, and both are expected to have a significant and influential future as commanders in the ranks of the Border Guard."
