This part of the city is filled with heritage shophouses, local coffee shops, street art, family businesses, cafés, and everyday street life that continues from one generation to another. We begin our walk from the famous Padungan cat statue, one of the symbols of Kuching, also known as the Cat City of Malaysia. Along the way, we explore old streets, hidden murals between shoplots, local noodle shops, retro cafés inside historic buildings, and traditional businesses that are still running today. We also stop to watch traditional dry meat being grilled over charcoal using old-fashioned methods that have been used for many years in Kuching. Besides Padungan, we also visit Saint Peter’s Church and Taman MBKS, two nearby places that show another side of daily life in Kuching city. This travel video is not only about tourist attractions, but also about the small moments, local streets, and familiar places that make Kuching special. If you enjoy slow travel, street walking videos, local food, heritage streets, Malaysian culture, and discovering everyday life in Borneo, this journey around Padungan may be interesting for you.
