According to the investigation, acting in collusion with currently unidentified individuals, a 50-year-old resident of Odessa took on the role of organizer of the illegal smuggling of conscripted men across the state border of Ukraine. Law enforcement officers documented how the perpetrator promised a fellow citizen of draft age to organize his escape to unrecognized Transnistria for $9,000. At the first meeting, the dealer received a $2,000 deposit for the service from the “client” and ordered him to wait for the departure, and a week later he took him out of town by car, where he provided him with another vehicle and sent him to one of the settlements in the Podilskyi district, which borders the PMR. From there, the “traveler” was supposed to cross the border along the provided route. However, law enforcement officers stopped the deal as soon as the organizer returned to Odessa and received another $7,000 from a familiar “client”. The police detained the dealer and seized from him cash, a mobile phone and the vehicle in which the “client” was transported as material evidence. Currently, based on a sufficient amount of evidence collected, investigators have informed the detainee of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely, in organizing the illegal transfer of a person across the state border of Ukraine, leading such actions and facilitating their commission by providing advice, instructions, means and removing obstacles, committed by a group of persons in prior conspiracy, for selfish motives. At the request of the police, the court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention with the right to deposit bail in the amount of 266,240 UAH. According to current legislation, the desire to illegally earn 9 thousand dollars. can result in imprisonment for a man for up to 9 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property. During the pre-trial investigation, the police will establish all the circumstances of the criminal scheme and persons who acted in collusion with the organizer. The procedural management of the case is carried out by the Peresyp District Prosecutor's Office of the city of Odessa.
