Nurses providing medication to infants, children and youth are often required to calculate the safe doses by weight. There are several methods nurses can use to calculate pediatric medication doses and this video will review a few of the more common ones. These strategies can be used to ensure the dose you are giving is correct or to calculate a medication dose for youth when no parameters exist in the drug inserts.
