Headlight / Headlamp Restoration - Acura RDX

I know there's plenty of videos out there on how to restore and refinish clouded over plastic headlight lenses. This video will show you what I do to restore the clarity back into those lenses. To begin with, headlight lenses are pre-coated at the factory with clear coat paint. When you don't wax the headlights with the rest of the car, the paint will eventually oxidize and cloud up. To get the lenses back to clarity, wet sand the oxidation off then re-coat the lenses with UV resistance outdoor clear coat spray paint. I use 400, 600 and 1,500 wet sand paper to prepare the surface. If you want, you can also go up to a 3,500 and 4,000 grade paper. Then dry off the perimeter of the lenses with compressed air to remove residual moisture, mask around the perimeter of the lenses and apply three (3) light coats of clear coat paint (Rust-Oleum American Accents Gloss Clear). That's it! After around a week of drying, you can compound the lenses with a fine grade automotive compound to remove any residual over spray.
