The Power Electric brand motor should have drawn a maximum of 7 amps, but it was reading between 20 and 21, confirming a serious problem with the windings. Upon disassembling the motor, it was found that the start windings were burned out, while the run windings were still functioning correctly. To resolve the issue, the start windings were rewound. This involved: Removing the connecting wires and separating the windings into groups (of 4, 6, 8, and 10 turns). Count the number of turns on each coil (8, 11, 21, and 29 respectively). Measure the wire gauge with an AWG caliper, which turned out to be 23 gauge. Fabricate new mica/plastic insulators to protect the coils. Rewind the coils with the exact number of turns and pitches, ensuring they were tight and aligned. Add additional wedges to prevent the coils from slipping off or rubbing against the rotor. Once rewound, make the electrical connections following the diagram: inputs to inputs and outputs to outputs, twisting and soldering each connection with insulating paste and spaghetti for added security. Then, apply electro-insulating varnish to all the coils and let them dry in the sun for several hours. Finally, reassemble the motor and test it with an ammeter.
