trem de Ceará-Mirim a Natal (RN) VAMOS VIAJAR COMIGO!!

The railway line that connected Ceará-Mirim to Natal is part of the Estrada de Ferro Central do Rio Grande do Norte (EFCRN), one of the most important railway projects in the state, especially between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. 🌱 Historical context At the end of the 19th century, Rio Grande do Norte basically lived off the sugar economy, mainly in the Ceará-Mirim Valley, which was one of the richest regions in the state. There were dozens of sugar mills, but transporting the production to the port of Natal was slow, expensive, and depended on bad roads or the river. Hence the need for a more efficient means of transport. 🛤️ Construction of the railway The railway began to be built in 1906. The Natal–Ceará-Mirim section was inaugurated in 1909. It started in Natal, passed through areas that are now part of the North Zone and continued to Ceará-Mirim.
