Lasko 3733 Box Fan for Parts and Experimentation

I recently purchased this Lasko 3733 8,000 CFM box fan from the The Home Depot to use for parts and an experimentation. I needed a switch, handle, knob, and pair of feet for some older models. Lasko does still sell most of these parts, but the total price would exceed that of a new unit. I ordered this from the The Home Depot, which shipped it to me overnight for free. The box was rather beat up on one corner, but the fan itself doesn't appear to have sustained any damage. This one, like all the others, is severely out of balance. There appear to be slight design changes to the guards, they now have small pieces protruding from the bottom that result in the fan sitting on the 4 posts from the guards rather than on the metal frame of the fan. It's loud but moves an acceptable amount of air for the power consumed. It's cheap, but you get what you pay for. Unlike a lot of fans on the market today, the motors in these seem to come with an adequate amount of lubrication from the factory and will run quite a while before locking up.
