In February 2011, she became the youngest female skier to win an international ski jumping competition recognized by the International Ski Federation at the Continental Cup. Since then, she has won four overall titles in the Ski Jumping World Cup and won a bronze medal at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. She has achieved the feat of winning 63 Ski Jumping World Cup victories, the most in history for both men and women, and reaching the podium a record 116 times for a woman. In 2017, she received the Holmenkollen Medal, one of the most prestigious awards in the skiing world. She has represented Japan in three consecutive Winter Olympics since 2014.
