Día de Muertos, or Day of the dead, is celebrated all over Mexico, but the Yucatan Peninsula does it differently. In the Yucatan, they celebrate the Mayan holiday: Hanal Pixan. The capital of the Yucatan, Mérida, hosts the week long Festival de las Animas (festival of the souls) celebrating Mayan culture and tradition.
